Bike - Jamis Quest 2014

This was a road bike that I got 10 years ago as part of a cycle to work scheme. A proper sturdy steel bike that has been used and abused and is still friendly with me. The plan is to get this cleared up and refreshed over the summer, get some new wheels and some slightly wider tyres to become something more akin to a gravel and touring bike.

Trainer - Van Rysen D100 with Zwift Cog and Click

I went for the cheapest option I could find! I was unsure about how enjoyable I would find this and I’m definitely not going to be going anywhere near the 600W limit that this trainer has - plus it was on sale! I got the Cog and Click separately and I would definitely recommend this over using the actual gears and a keyboard. Especially since my derailleurs and whatnot on my bike needing a bit of TLC!

HR Monitor - COOSPO HW807

Just a cheap HR monitor, I own an Apple Watch which I thought would have gathered heart rate data during a session… I was wrong.

Cadence Sensor - Wahoo Cadence Sensor

I have a disagreeable relationship with my trainer at times, especially with what it calculates my cadence to be. This was the solution. Whacked it onto my bike for a session earlier and my cadence went from ~60rpm to ~95rpm - if you have a cheap trainer, I recommend dropping £30 odd on a separate sensor.

Laptop - MacBook Pro M1

I don’t have any kind of tablet and my office is set up with both a standing desk and monitors on adjustable arms. This means I can just dock my laptop and have a monitor to watch me struggle right in front of my face.

Cameras - GoPro 10 & Elgato Facecam

I haven’t done much camerawork or recording yet, but when I do, this is what i have. Obviously the usb camera for when I’m indoors and static, the GoPro for when I’m not. Pretty simple.

Hound - Bluebell the Border Collie

A nearly 2 year old supporter, I’ve been told that Collies are intelligent but I’ve yet to see it. Spends most of my Zwift sessions either dropping balls that roll to the other side of my bike or trying to navigate under the bike and flirting with a spinning chunk of metal to retrieve said ball. 10/10 doggo though!

stuff that i want

Here’s a shortlist of stuff that I want to get or is a bit pipe dreamy for the future. Also for no reason at all dropping my KoFi link here just cos…

Bike Computer

Power meter

To go alongside the computer - I like my metrics

General stuff to go bike-packing with

These involve the upgrades to the bike o want to do; wheels, racks and bags, lights, etc. As well as the camping stuff; clothes, tent, sleeping gear, etc etc…

360 Camera

When I do get to recording, these have been superseding the GoPro for its ability to flick between front and back recording.
