So I Hit a Wall...

It took longer than I expected but on my session last night I hit a wall, I was feeling fine, I was powering through with my new cadence sensor and I decided to take a coffee stop to grab a towel and headphones. However, as soon as I. got off the bike, it hit me…

My legs got wobbly, I started feeling really hot, I feel like I need to throw up, and I had to sit sit on the floor in front of my fan for a good 10 minutes. I went too hard and my body kicked out. The weirdest thing is that the session I was on wasn’t anything particularly difficult, it was a gentle rubber-banded group ride, so what happened?

The day was a different one; I was in a rush to hit the group session, I hadn’t eaten for a while, my water intake has been down, basically, a lot of not good things leading up to the session. On top of that, I had got my new sensor, and seeing that the RPMs were so much higher - I may have gone harder than usual.

So what have I learnt? Mainly ensure that I’m fuelled and ready to go before cycling, and also maybe be less enamoured with big numbers on the screen!

Anyway, I’m taking the day off today as I’m still feeling wobbly. Till next time.
