So, when I was last here I was in a bit of a slump… and that slump continued, and continued, and continued even more. I stopped going on Zwift, my running went down to a minimal level, and my drive to do anything just went down the drain.
So when I fractured a rib during a half marathon and the subsequent recovery period - I pretty much gave up.
… That was until about 2½ weeks ago…
I was flicking through my work’s intranet and came across the NHS Weight Management Program; which I instantly applied to. After answering a few questions I was given a choice of a couple of providers, I chose one and now I’m officially on a weight management programme.
So yeah, I’m doing that now. I’m losing weight. And I’m motivated to get back on the bike and get moving.
So what’s going on now
The programme focuses on the ideas of intuitive eating and mindful eating, with that, I’m trying to be more mindful about what I’m eating and how I’m eating - I’m by far from perfect at it, but I’m not looking for perfect… it’s progress that I need.
I’ll elaborate in a future post, but the main gist is…
- Eat slower and smaller.
- Journal what I eat with some extra details (where I’m eating, hunger feelings, emotions) - I use this food diary app to log everything.
- Track hydration with Waterllama
- Track sleep with my apple watch
- Regular exercise and measurements
And next
I want to be open about this, recording what I’m doing and get it out there - for 3 reasons really.
- Mental Health - essentially functioning as a journal
- Accountability - if I talk about it all the time and I don’t keep up with it, I’ll feel bad.
- Inspire - it’s cool to think that if what I do is seen by people, then perhaps I can be a person of inspiration for others in a similar position.
I know that no one will probably see this, but the thought of it should keep me going - although if you are coming across this (or anything future) then share, contact me, anything really. I’ll be recording and posting videos in the near future - promise!
Until next time!
