So following the last update, visiting my family and stealing my brother’s bike for a while; I decided to utilise the Cycle to Work scheme again and have got a Specialized Diverge and I bloody love it! Unfortunately, due to illness and just bad timings, I’ve only been out on it a couple of times but those couple of times I can tell that I will be able to get around the South West a lot easier than on the Jamis - it deals with the road surfaces around here a lot better, and the gear ratio makes it a lot easier for me to deal with the hills here.

I’ve successfully signed up to the London-Brighton Cycle Ride for September next year, along with my brother and mother. At 55 miles (near 90km), it’s not the longest journey out there, but it’s long enough for me and with Ditchling Beacon to deal with right towards the end, I don’t think that I need anything longer as my first big ride.
With just under 350 days, I’ve got a lot of time to prepare and train with the ultimate goal being to actually cycle up Ditchling Beacon without stopping or getting off the bike. First things first, I need to get over this bloody illness.
